Vineyards of Pomerol
Lalande de Pomerol
Close to Libourne, the appellation of Pomerol is a very small area compared to its neighbour Saint-Emilion as it has only about eight hundred hectares of vines. Merlot is the main grape variety. Pomerol wines are often described as having the richness and fleshiness of the best Saint-Emilion and the elegance and finesse of the best Medoc wines.
Extending the territory of Pomerol to more than 1,100 hectares in the north, the Lalande de Pomerol appellation has a similar structure of soils. With a reputation probably more discreet, its wines, also from Merlot and Cabernet franc, have this unique sap and this wonderful velvety which sign the great wines of Pomerol.
